When you submit your transcript or diploma to The Aspire Registry, our team uses this information to determine a degree type: Early Childhood Education Specific, Related, or Not Related. We use the following scale to assign a degree type:
Early Childhood Education Specific: If the degree is in Early Childhood Education or in Elementary Education, Childhood Education or Child Development with at least:

- 12 credits in Early Childhood Education for an Associate’s degree.
- 24 credits in Early Childhood Education for a Bachelor’s degree.
- 15 credits in Early Childhood Education for a Master’s degree.

Related: If the degree is in a field that prepares students to work with children and/or families such as Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, ECE Leadership OR the degree includes at least:

- 12 credits in Early Childhood Education or General Education for an Associate’s degree.
- 24 credits in Early Childhood Education or General Education for a Bachelor’s degree.
- 15 credits in Early Childhood Education or General Education for a Master’s Degree.

Not Related: If the degree is in a field that does not prepare students to work with children and families directly and the transcript shows less than 12 credits related to working with children and families, the degree is not related (i.e. - Accounting, Biology, Liberal Arts). If the transcript does not include the major, the default will be “Unknown” and classified as “Not Related.”
