If you obtained your education at home, you can choose to upload any one of the following accepted documents for us to verify your education record:
For Residents of New York State
ACCEPTED
- Letter on district letterhead from the superintendent of schools of the public school district of residence that attests the home-instructed student adhered to NYSED's guidelines and regulations for home instruction
- Front and back copy of GED (not compulsory)
- Copy of Regents exam scores (not compulsory)
NOT ACCEPTED
- Online GED
- High School Diploma earned through correspondence
- High School Diploma earned through an online institution
For Residents Outside of New York State
ACCEPTED
- Letter on district letterhead from the superintendent of schools of the public school district of residence that attests the home-instructed student adhered to the State of Education guidelines and regulations for home instruction
- Front and back copy of GED (not compulsory)
- High School Diploma from an online institution that is recognized by the state of residence accompanied by a document from the state's Education Department indicating that the diploma is valid for its residents
NOT ACCEPTED
- Online GED
- High School Diploma earned through an online institution without a letter of validation from the state's Education Department
